Hello Friends,
It is my great honor to have the Lottie Rose Gallery hosts my mentor and good friend Jim Budde this coming November 12th.
Jim Budde is known both for his politically charged satirical pieces about
contemporary issues and personae, and sculptural teapots that combine
expressionistic human and animal imagery. He draws from popular culture
and classic literature as well as historical art references. In each
of these contexts the work often mingles imagery that carries diverse
associations about the human condition creating a sculptural collage
with a poetic narrative. He enjoys working with the prerequisite
boundaries and technical obstacles his references impose on the way in
which he approaches each new work.
The inherent dialogical
nature of Budde’s work is strongest when referencing a current event,
well-known personality, cultural icon or literary reference. Conversely,
when Budde works from more imaginative resources, the pieces begin to
emphasize form and a feeling of entity over direct subject matter. Both
approaches highlight the strong voice and striking technique that has
become equally signature to Budde’s work.
I hope to see you all here for this amazing art show!!
